And here’s the entire reason this project came to my mind: Patrick Jane and Teresa Lisbon from The Mentalist.
I’ve made it no secret just how hard I shipped these two. I confess I didn’t start shipping them from the beginning, because I didn’t start watching the show from the beginning. I actually caught it when season four was airing in my country, but I knew the jist of the plot. So I just got into it a little late, hehe…
Turns out that I actually caught it at the last leg of season four. I remember watching the episode with the drag queens, and found it adorable when one of them had Lisbon dancing on stage with them at the start of it… but then we reached the last scene of the episode, when Fifi Nix is singing, and the way Jane was looking at Lisbon there… well, I’m sure that started it xD
Not long afterwards I watched season four’s finale. And MAN… that was when I cast away all hopes, knowing I was done for with this ship. The banter, the companionship, how hurt she was when he was gone, how much he cared for her even though he doesn’t show it as clearly as he should… “Good luck, Teresa. I love you”, and the hand-holding at the end of the episode?! No, seriously, I… I couldn’t deal. I really couldn’t. They were too darn cute. So thus I became crazily invested in the pairing! I watched all four seasons of the show that had aired until then, and had to start watching the new ones on a weekly basis whenever the season started anew… I really wanted Jisbon to become canon, but I wasn’t sure it would given the show’s nature. It just didn’t seem all that likely, but I wished it would happen regardless.
But then it did happen. And then I knew the joys of shipping something that eventually became canon TTwTT season seven was the greatest ride, from start to finish, because it was any fangirl’s dream season xD they never went too crazy with Jane and Lisbon once they were together, didn’t have them tearing each other’s clothes off with their teeth or anything of the sort, but what they had was so beautiful and precious… it really set a whole new standard of what a canon ship should be like for me. It was really that amazing.
So when the wedding happened I was, as everyone knows, ecstatic beyond belief! It was really perfect. And then she tells him she’s pregnant, and Jane gets to live his second chance at life properly, this time cherishing his family and the love he’s found for good… *Sniff*
I ended up rewatching the entire show after the series finale xD I couldn’t help it! Seeing their history again from the start was beautiful. They’re both such amazing characters! So of course, I started wondering, what if I took my ultimate OTP and placed them in the roles of Jane and Lisbon?
It would be great, really, that’s what I concluded, as I re-imagined many scenes with Sokka and Azula instead xD again, due to character similarities, Azula gets to be Jane while Sokka is Lisbon. Suits a lot better for him to be the snarky agent who’s always done with everyone while she’s his annoying consultant xD
And why did we get a lot more scenes here than in everything else? Well… there were far too many Jisbon scenes I loved. Far too many. So I couldn’t settle on a single one xD and instead took my chances to work with no less than seven! :’D
The top right corner is their first encounter, Azula looks terrible because Jane did back then. Sokka is younger here, hence his hair is shorter, no stubble of beard. Then on the top left side we have them in Jisbon’s normal status throughout the show: Azula smirking and observing everything while Sokka smirks as he observes her (believe me, that WAS Jisbon all the time xD).
On the lower left we have them dancing to More Than Words, because that will always be of my favorite Jisbon scenes! At the very bottom, we have Sokka waking Azula up on the CBI couch after she’s plotted up some crazy scheme she didn’t tell him about. The reason said scene is a gem is because in the show, after being woken by a stern Lisbon, Jane tells her “I like it when you get all authoritarian on me”, and having Azula tease Sokka that way was a MUST! Of course, Sokka’s not so happy about it xD then next to that is their first time eating ice cream together, which was so very adorable…
And above that, the unforgettable first kiss. I had Sokka standing up because I thought it would be rude of him to have her do it, seeing how her ankle was supposed to be broken, ehehe ^^U
And of course… the center is the wedding. And I soooo loved working on that one. The smile on his face, the way they look at each other… Sokkla weddings will be the end of me. And a Sokkla wedding as Jisbon?! Just the kind of things I need in my life *-*
